Microsoft has stated that starting February 1, 2013, the Windows 8 upgrade edition will be offered for $119.99 USD and Windows 8 Pro upgrade edition will be offered for $199.99 USD in the U.S.

Windows 8 products will be sold at the following prices:

• The Windows 8 Pro upgrade edition will be available online and at retail for $199.99 MSRP (U.S.).
• The Windows 8 upgrade edition will be available online and at retail for $119.99 MSRP (U.S.).
• The Windows 8 Pro Pack will cost $99.99 MSRP (U.S.).
• The Windows 8 Media Center Pack will cost $9.99 MSRP (U.S.).

Seeing that Microsoft’s promotional price of $39.99 for the upgrade edition of Windows 8, you better act fastif you want to save a bunch of cash before Microsoft pushed the price needle to the far right. We should note too that the Media Center Pack, which Microsoft is currently offering for free, will now set you back $9.99 as well.

We will be quite curious to see how well Windows 8 continues to sell after the price hike goes into place. Seeing that the consumer verdict on the platform at the $39.99 price point was wavering, raising the price to $119 might make it a tough sell for some consumers.
